Good day and welcome to SkidChatter's blog. Our main objective is the discussion of selected literature. We begin with a discussion of the book, "The Trumpet of the Swan", by E.B. White. After this, a simple review or recommendation is greatly appreciated. A brief synopsis would be even better. Enjoy.
Please feel free to solicit book recommendations from your students and post them here. Give the URL to your classes and let the students peruse the book information offerred here.

Thank you.

Chapters 8-14: Connections

I found myself feeling proud of the cob for the extent that he goes to for his son. I can totally connect with the cob's feeling of need to to do whatever is within his power to help his son. I would and have given everything that I've had to benefit my kids. I feel so defeated when I'm unable to help them accomplish things or experience things.
Louis' feeling of excitement at going to camp is dead on with what I witnessed in my kids when they first went to camp (thanks to the kindness of others and their contributions). I cried when I looked at their faces and exhuberance when they got they got their first looks at the wonderous place that they would be staying. I felt so proud and scared for them.

  1. Louis in chapter 8 reminds me of myself when I was trying to impress my husband for the first time. I was an independent young woman who worked and owned a new vehicle. I pick up him up on our first date and paid for the check. I knew that I would try my best to try to sweep him off his feet. Which worked he later called me and took me out. After 1 year later and several dutch dates, he became my husband. Now 11 years have gone by and I still find myself getting all dolled up to impress him. In chapter nine Cob (Louis father) realize that Louis in need of his help and goes out in search for a solution. This reminds me of my dad. He is a great man who I admire for his hard work and courage. When I am feeling down or need inspiration, he is always there to encourage me with his word of wisdom.
